celtic charm

Anniversary on Being Unemployed

it’s coming up to
one year now

one whole year
365
52
12

on paper it’s
a long time
but it has gone
very quickly

365 days of happiness
52 weeks of pleasure
12 months of bliss

a year
that has taken away the pain

disappointment

as i try to
justify what
i’m going to do

my temper like
his is short
i hold my tongue
biting deep
as he launches his attack

my mother looks on
with that same
tired disappointment

he tells me that
i’ve let them down
he tells me i’ve
let myself down

i tell him that’s
because i’m inflatable
